In every battery-powered device, it must be ensured that the batteries are running within safe operating limits. For systems up to 110V, Nuvoton offers the perfect solution with its non-stackable battery monitoring ICs. Parameters such as voltage, temperature and current have to be permanently monitored. State of charge (SoC) and cell balancing also play an important role. Nuvoton offers components that combine all these functions in one single IC.
Nuvoton’s current offer includes four non-stackable battery monitoring ICs. Non-stackable means that they cannot be cascaded and hence only monitor a limited number of battery cells.

This ICs have several high resolution ADCs integrated to measure and monitor the various parameters. Products with current monitoring function also integrate a coulomb counter which is used to determine the State of Charge.
High-side FET control is used to switch charging and discharging by external FETs and thus also serve safe operation.
