Atlas Magnetics – Load Switches: Atlas Magnetics, founded in 2021, aims to solve the challenge of excessive passive components supporting core electronics. Atlas Magnetics – Load Switches – AM6U Series Overview

Atlas Magnetics’ load switches feature two overcurrent protection modes: Short circuit current limit and active current limit. They also include a configurable slew rate control, which helps reduce or eliminate the rise in output voltage caused by large inrush currents. To achieve this, they integrate a CAP input pin, which can be connected to a low-ESR capacitor, allowing the slew rate to be set. Currently among the load switch series AM6U, you find

The ultra-small AM6U1125: a 17mΩ, 2.5A single-channel load switch that switches 1.0V to 5.5V power rails. The product is packaged in an ultra-small 1.0×1.6mm package.

The AM6U1114: 7mΩ, 4A single-channel load switches that can switch 0.9V to 4.5V power rails, packaged in a 2.0×1.5mm package.

The AM6U1404 offers 7.5mΩ R_DSON and is able to switch 4A between 0.9V and 5.5V and comes also in a small package of 2.0mm x 1.5mm.

Besides its slew rate control, the AM6U1125 and AM6U1114 include an additional discharge function in their internal circuit, as seen in Figure 2.

AM6U1404, AM6U1114 and AM6U1125 are in full mass production and available with a short lead time. At the moment 5 more products are in development.

Typical applications for AM6U load switches

Connecting and disconnecting loads:

Enabling/disabling of power supply to specific loads, powering up/down devices or circuits controlled by MCU.

Energy saving:

Disconnecting loads that are not in use to reduce energy consumption.

Power sequencing:

Managing off-on operations in a specific sequence for system stability
